Lono i ka Makahiki! Hauʻoli Makahiki Hou iā kākou a pau! As we start this new year and continue to celebrate the bounty of Lono’s season we find ourselves deep in the wā hoʻoilo, our rainy season. Hoʻoilo reminds us of the potential our ʻāina has to feed and sustain our communities, so long as we are up to facing the challenges of mitigation and restoration. While heavy rains bring life to streams and create a bounty of mea ʻai, they also exacerbate land conditions like erosion that stem from decades of mismanagement.

Our goal for 2024 is to continue to work to restore our ʻāina and show the power of keeping Hawaiian lands in the Hawaiian hands!
